I had issues with this ep when it first aired, mainly because it was the first ep after the looooooong strike-induced hiatus and the boys were barely in it, and also I wasn't feeling all that great and the shaky camerawork kind of made matters worse. Nowadays, though, I've come to the conclusion that it was actually a pretty good episode.

It was SCARY, for one thing. There aren't many episodes I would say that about, but in this one they created such an eerie setting for it, and the handheld camerawork made it all the creepier. So while the Ghostfacers were being their usual idiotic, hilarious selves, the atmosphere around them was truly horror-movie-esque, and I was pretty impressed by that.

Also, I thought it was cool that they used the leap day. Things like that don't come along very often, so I always picture the writers jumping for joy in the writers' room when they get an idea that could incorporate it. And it also made sense for the Winchesters to show up at this place at the same time as the Ghostfacers, since it was a once-every-four-years opportunity for them. Dean considering it their "Grand Canyon" was hilarious. ;)

Ed and Harry were awesome as always, and I loved the additions of Maggie and Spruce. Corbett irritated me, but his tribute was so sweet, and I was so proud of him at the end.

LOVE their theme song. ;)

I hated the swearing, but I guess that was all part of the reality TV spoof. However, for those who think that means the boys always use the "real" swear words - even in this ep, they still used the milder ones more often than not. And I'm pretty sure that in Dean's beepful shpiel, at least one of the words they beeped wasn't even a swear. Looked like he said "stupid" to me.

The party was just plain disturbing, but I actually managed to keep my eyes open this time. :P

Some of my fave moments -
*The dad arriving and opening the garage door, scaring the GFs out of their wits for a second, heh heh.
*When the boys showed up and we heard that beautiful purrrrrrr and the rock music blaring... woohoo! Yep, that's our boys, alright. I cheered out loud. :D
*The GFs' "Ghooooostfacerssssssss!" psych-up thing before they got to work.
*SAM SMASHING THE CHAIR. Best moment of the ep right there, for me. That was really the only glimpse we got in this ep of his growing anger and frustration, and I ate it up. That plus his lack of a haircut seemed significant, like he was seriously reaching a point of desperation, you know? He couldn't think about anything else - nothing mattered except saving Dean. This mission was just a temporary diversion because Dean wanted a fun hunt.
*Dean's panic when Sam disappears. That never gets old.
*Ed and Harry's fight, hahahaha! "I won that, right?" ;)
*The EMP! I swear it seemed like it was Dean's idea, which is pretty impressive.

Quotes -

Ed: We know you've had it hard during the crippling writers' strike.
Harry: Lazy fat cats.
Ed: Who needs writers when you got guys like us?

Ed: So strap in for the scariest hour in the history of television.
Harry: In the history of your LIFE.

Ed: You know, it can get kinda hard balancing our daytime careers with our nighttime missions.
Harry: Yeah, but Ed and I pretty much call the shots at the Kinko's where we work, so we can usually pretty much get off by 6 every night?
Ed: Yeah, 6 o'clock.

Harry: Two lone wolves.
Ed: And two lone wolves need, uh... other wolves.

Harry: Good morning, Ghostfacers!
Spruce: It's 7pm, dude.
Harry: That's morning to a Ghostfacer.

Harry: Ed, your sister's abusing staff.

Maggie: Ed has been obsessed with the supernatural since we were kids, you know, and then he meets Harry at computer camp, and... love at first geek.

Maggie: Wait, didn't you guys get, like, a permit or something?
Ed: A permit?
Harry: That's a good idea for next time.

Harry: Not cops, just hicks.

Ed: I can smell syndication.

Ed: Calm the whirlwinds of your mind.

Harry: Rats are like the rats of the world.

Dean: Well, listen, you and Rambo need to get your girlfriends and get out of here.
Ed: *laughs* Alright. Listen here, chisel chest, okay? We were here first. We've already set up base camp. We beat you.

Harry: We'll make you guys recurring guest stars!

Sam: Well, it's 12:04, Dean. You good? You happy?
Dean: Yeah, I am happy.
Sam: "Let's go hunt the Morton House," you said, "it's our Grand Canyon."

Dean: Alright, seriously, does looking at this nightmare through that camera make you feel better or something? I mean...
Maggie: Um... *tries to lower it* I, uh... well, yeah. Uh, yeah. I think so.

Sam: "Survival Under Atomic Attack." An optimist.

Dean: Ewww... got 3 toe tags here - one, death by gunshots, train accident, and suicide.
Sam: Eww.
Ed: What?
Sam: Well, that explains why all the death echoes are here.
*blank stares*
Sam: They're here because their bodies are here? Somewhere in the house.
Dean: Daggett brought the remains home from the morgue... to play.
*pause*
Ed and Harry: EWWWW!!
Spruce: Nasty, dude.

Ed: My best friend... and my best sister!

Dean: Ed? Listen to me. There's some salt in my duffle. Make a circle and get inside.
(Ed and Harry look at each other)
Harry: That's stupid.
Ed: Inside your duffle bag?
Dean: In the SALT, you idiot!

Sam: *to Spruce* Seriously. You're still shootin'?
Dean: It makes him feel better. Don't ask.

Harry: Ed... you've gotta go be gay for that poor dead intern! You gotta send him into the light!

Ed: War changes man.
Harry: And Maggie.
Ed: War changes man... and one woman.

Harry: Go well into that starry night, young Turk. Go well.

Ed: So, guys? What do you think?
Dean: *wipes his eye*
Ed: *laughing* You alright?
Dean: You know, I kind of think it was half awesome.
Maggie: Half awesome, that, that's full-on good! Right?
Sam: Yeah, I mean, it's bizarre how y'all are able to, uh, to honour Corbett's memory while grossly exploiting the manner of his death. Well done.

Sam: Our experience, you know what you get when you show the world the truth?
Dean: A straightjacket. Or a punch in the face. Sometimes both.

Harry: Don't be Facer haters because we happen to have gotten the footage of the century.

Ed: Hey, Menudo left their dance bag behind.

Sam: The world just isn't ready for the Ghostfacers.
Dean: It's too bad. I kinda liked the show.
Sam: *laughs* Had its moments.

Ed: That is money in the bank!

Episodes with these guys are always entertaining - they're just such morons. I have to say, my mom watches a lot of the shows that this episode was spoofing, and it's just too perfect. They're really pretty awful. I can just imagine if they actually encountered anything as scary as what's in this episode (and it is really disturbing).

I really love their ability to make fun episodes also really disturbing. And, yay for Winchesters not really swearing that badly!

I know, I've never watched any of those shows, but I've seen enough spoofs of them to know that the Ghostfacers do it right, LOL. And still make it scary! I love it. :)
