This episode originally aired on my birthday, and since it gave me everything I'd been wanting all season to see, I considered it a birthday present just for me. But hey, I'm willing to share. ;)

Here are the three main reasons why this was the best birthday present ever -

1. Sam finally confronts Dean about the way he's been acting. Did I mention FINALLY? Yet well worth the wait.
2. The [insert spoiler here] scene. The expression on Sam's face and the power in his hands, man. That was AWESOME.
3. Autoshop. Because the boys bonding over the Impala is one of the most beautiful things in the world.

Guh, this episode. I love love love it. First Gordon and Bela squaring off, which was a very weird scene for me because I was kind of hoping they'd just kill each other and be done with it, LOL. But noooo, I love to hate those two. ;)

I love that Bela didn't seem scared of Gordon at all, yet when Dean threatened her? Then she quaked in her boots, heh heh.

I kinda felt bad for the vampire girl, but at the same time... dude, taking a "new" drug from a stranger? Yeah, that's smart. Sam calmly lying to her saying they'd let her go was pretty cold, which seemed to be Dean's impression as well. Oh Saaaaam... he didn't even argue on her behalf, even though he knew there were vamps out there who didn't kill people (and considering her anguish at the thought of what she'd done, she would have been a prime candidate), and he even watched while she was beheaded (he used to look away when stuff like that happened). He flinched, though, which was a small comfort.

Really, though, this ep was like a neon sign pointing to the ways Sam has changed. He didn't hesitate to say that Gordon needed to die either. And I know later on in the season he says it's all because he wanted to be tougher like Dean because he'd soon be fighting alone, but the attitude he had over Gordon was the same one he had over Jake, and he killed Jake before he found out that Dean only had a year to live. So, sorry Sam, but that excuse doesn't fly with me. Not to mention that it seemed to come a lot easier to him than you'd think it would if he was forcing a harder edge on himself. Something in him was pushing him in that direction, and while every now and then he'd dig in his heels so he didn't go too far too fast, for the most part he was going with the flow. And he didn't even seem to realize it until there was no turning back, which makes it all the more heartbreaking.

I loved the scene where Gordon and Kubrick were interviewing the vampire victim guy. The dead-serious look on their faces after they said they'd have to kill him... hahahahaha! As if the poor guy wasn't already freaked enough! :P

Okay, be honest... who would you be more freaked to see when you round a corner - a vampire, or Gordon and Kubrick? Yeah, the answer's Gordon and Kubrick for me, too, heh. That was awesome. :D

I loved the insight into vampires in this ep - how they feel, what they see and hear, all that. I really like their portrayal in this show. But while I felt bad for the vampire dude, his whining and feeling sorry for himself kinda bugged me after a while. And so did Gordon. Turning vampire really brought out the psycho in him.

Dean recklessly risking his life at every turn, and Sam finally having enough... LOVE LOVE LOVE. It was about time those boys talked about it openly rather than beating around the bush like they'd been doing all season. The hitch in Sam's voice and that little lip wibble KILL ME DED. Guh. So much love for that scene. They're both trying to be so manly while inwardly being so scared, it breaks your heart. And I fill in the blank at the end of Sam's speech with, "Cause I won't get to have you around much longer." :(

I really want to know what spirit Bela contacted. Someone who cared enough about the boys to not only find out where they were but also warn them about Gordon. Who could it beeeee? I've always hoped for John or Mary, myself, but now I'm wondering if it could have been Mary's parents or someone?

Gordon is worse than Dean for ticking off his captors, heh. At least Dean does it with a sense of humour. Gordon kind of deserved what he got, IMO.

Loooove the hunter vs hunted scene, with the red POV and all. So awesome. And like I said above, the look on Sam's face and the sheer POWER of decapitating someone with a WIRE was just... GUH! So insanely awesome. Talk about shivers down your spine!

Also, it amuses me that Dean told Gordon in Hunted to bite him. Got his wish! :P

And the car scene at the end wrapped my beautiful birthday present up in a lovely bow of brotherly love. *happy sigh* Yep, I loved this episode. :)

Randomness -
*I seem to recall someone figured out (or we were told?) that the sign behind Dean in that warehouse at the end saying there'd been 183 days without a work-related accident or whatever was an Easter egg. That Dean had that many days left on his clock or something? Anyone remember that?
*"One of them was real tall." Yeah, no further description needed, right? :P

Quotes -

Gordon: Sam Winchester's the antichrist.
Bela: Mm. I'd heard something about that.
Gordon: It's true.
Bela: From my good friend, the Easter bunny. Who'd heard it from the tooth fairy. Are you off your meds?

Sam: Nice move you pulled back there, Dean, running right at the weapons.
Dean: Well, what can I say? I'm a badass.

Sam: I'm sick and tired of your whole stupid kamikaze trip.
Dean: Whoa, whoa, kamikaze? I'm more like a ninja.
Sam: That's not funny.
Dean: It's a little funny.

Dean: What do you want me to do, Sam, huh? Sit around all day writing sad poems about how I'm gonna die? You know what, I got one. Let's see, what rhymes with "Shut up, Sam"?

Sam: I wish you would drop the show and be my brother again. 'Cause... just 'cause.

Gordon: You're not human, Sam.
Sam: Look who's talking.

LOL - so true!

This episode is amazing! Sam v. Gordon is seriously intense, and it's rather fitting that Gordon turns into a vampire - for a whole host of reasons.

And, once again, heartbreak: "I wish you would drop the show and be my brother again, 'cause... just 'cause." Oh, Sam.

I can just imagine them in the writers' room after Hunted... "Ha, Dean told Gordon to bite him. Dude, we HAVE to make him a vampire one day!" :P

Jared delivered that whole speech so unbelievably well. I can't watch it and not wibble. :(
