To put something in your sidebar you need to go to your Customize Journal page and put the image's url into the sidebar's text box inside the quotes in a < img src="" > tag (minus the first and last spaces inside the brackets). I don't know of a way to do it without HTML, sorry.

Date: 2011-09-30 04:52 pm (UTC)I would prefer that you save them to your computer and upload them to a website of your choice before using them, which is simple enough to do. You right click on the image, select "save picture as" to save it somewhere on your computer, and then you upload the image to a website of your choosing (I just use LJ's Scrapbook, but Photobucket is good, too). From there you find the URL of the image by going to your gallery page and clicking on the image for as many times as it takes to get the full image and ONLY the image on the screen (LJ's gallery can be tricky, because they take you to a viewing page first that you have to click on a second time to get the image's source code), then copy the URL and put it inside the HTML image code. Hope that helps. :)
